Venice weather is at its best for visitors in spring, early summer and autumn, when the sun is always shining but the temperature is not too hot to spoil a long walk around the city. Average temperatures range from 12C in March to 27C in July and August. If you go in summer, Venice is likely to be packed with tourists and your sightseeing experience will not be as good. There are also occasional thunderstorms in July and August, and be aware that there is quite a strong smell from the canals at this time. November is definitely not a good month for Venice weather as the city usually experiences seasonal flooding at this time, although it can happen at any time between October and March. At its worst the flooding, known as acqua alta, can cover up to 65% of the city.
