Find the good places to shop in Venice

When it comes to Venice shopping, there's really something for everybody. High end fashions, beautiful handicrafts, Italian food and wine, souvenirs and amazing pieces in lace and glass are all available here. So whether you're in town to pick up something nice for your home or a great gift for that special someone, Venice shopping has it all.

The Saint Mark's Square area is the place to go for designer fashion and luxury goods. In the streets directly off the square you'll find top international brands such as Missoni, Prada, Bulgari and Gucci. This Venice shopping area is also home to two great book stores – Librera Mondadori and Librera Stadium – where you'll find a large selection of guidebooks and maps in a range of languages.

In the Castello district to the north and east of Saint Mark's Square, there's plenty of great stores for Italian foods and fine wine such as I Tre Mercanti. The same Venice shopping area is home to Lanterna Magica – an enchanting traditional toy store – and Ratti, a great place for homewares. For art supplies and handicrafts, the Mercerie shopping streets are your top destination. Here you'll find all kinds of great art products as well as handmade stationery, unique glassware and many other items. The Rialto Bridge area is also a great spot to pick up artworks and antiques.

When it comes to souvenirs, the pedestrianized Strada Nova near the railway station is the ultimate Venice shopping destination. This thoroughfare has a wide mix of souvenirs available for you to take home such as masks and Venetian paper products as well as glass and lace items. It's also got a lot of stores that serve everyday needs such as the Billa supermarket.

If you're particularly interested in a nice Venetian glass work or lace piece, head to the islands of Murano and Burano respectively. As well as being great places to see on a day trip, here you'll find the ultimate selection of glass and lace products located in a more concentrated shopping area than in central Venice.
